A Guide to Understanding Global Warming and
Climate Change
It is probably important that we all
have some understanding of global warming and climate change.
This major issue, often with great debate and
controversy in the world today, has many conflicting arguments
on this subject of global warming and climate change. This
subject matter which includes an array of different issues,
such as the effects of climate change, and what our
governments, international institutions and companies, and
other organizations are attempting, if anything, to do about
this issue, as well as the different challenges that they face
if this serious situation continues to be mainly
ignored.
Global Warming and Climate Change Introduction
The climate is
changing drastically, regardless of what sceptics say, there is
literal proof that goes to show that the Earth’s surface
temperature has increased drastically, even in the past decade
alone, as there is now overwhelming scientific consensus that
global warming is in fact happening, and not only that but also
that it is human-induced.
With global warming and climate change on the increase, and
with species and their habitats on the decease, the chances for
ecosystems to be able to adapt naturally are diminishing, and
many are agreed on the fact that the issue of global warming
and climate change just may be one of the greatest threats that
is facing the planet.
The Significant Impact of Global Warming
It is believed
that global warming will have incredible impact on the world
overall, both on the environment and on society in general, as
higher temperatures will cause a melting of ice in Greenland
and Antarctica, and this will result in accelerating the rise
of the sea level. As well, the speed at which global warming is
expected to occur in the 21st century is faster than most plant
and animal species will be able to cope with, thus resulting in
causing many to become extinct, and quickly at
that.
Global warming is also expected to affect human health, as
there will most likely be more heart-related illnesses in hot
summers, and increased breathing problems as higher
temperatures increase air pollution in cities, thus reducing
air quality greatly. Also, more extreme weather, for example
storms, floods and droughts will have severe impacts on the
environment and on society.
Preparing for global changes
Reluctantly, we
are going to have to come to terms with this problem and
prepare and adapt to global changes, especially considering
that if global warming is going to occur, which it is! there is
really nothing that anyone can do about it other than make
every conceivable effort to minimise the effects of global
warming. We must have an understanding of the causes of global
warming and climate change, to enable us to make our own
efforts to combat and minimise the changes to our environment.
Try to be conscious of what you can do to reduce damaging
polluting emissions, such as recycling as much waste and
disposable items.
